Caring for our Communities

Business is good when it’s good for Minnesotans like Rebecca. Rebecca is an Otter Tail Power Company employee and mother of two young girls. In 2016 she registered her oldest daughter for BIO Girls, a program that improves the self-esteem of adolescent girls through empowerment of self and service to others. By 2019, both of her daughters were enjoying the program—and Rebecca had become the site director. The people of Otter Tail Power Company are consistently showing up to support their communities. In fact, three of Rebecca’s colleagues, Lynn, Kristen, and Stephanie, have been involved in BIO Girls too. Using their time and skills, our employees actively engage in a wide range of nonprofit organizations and charitable causes. They serve on boards of directors, organize volunteer projects, and make financial contributions.

Through our Otter Tail Power Company Foundation, we also generously give financially. Our company established the Foundation with a mission to connect with our rural communities through supporting young minds, investing in our current and future workforce, creating vibrant culture and vital communities, improving health and human services, and protecting our natural resources. The Foundation has granted hundreds of thousands of dollars to organizations in our service area, including more than $225,000 to Minnesota programs (like BIO Girls!) last year alone.

Corporate citizenship is important to us. We live our values by consistently stepping up in our communities— generously giving and actively engaging to make our Otter Impact.
